Alanbrooke Quarter Paderborn – Fire-rated glass solutions

  • IMG 7491

On the site of the former British Alanbrooke Barracks in Paderborn, a new urban quarter with residential, office and commercial spaces is being developed. As part of the conversion of an existing building into modern office space, two aspects were key: safety and spatial quality.

For our client Nordemann GmbH, we supplied tailored fire-rated glass solutions.

The project included 11 m² of EI30 fixed glazing as well as 3 T30 / EI30 all-glass doors. The fixed glazing was installed as side elements to the door systems on all three sides, helping to bring daylight into the corridor areas and maintain an open interior layout.

The all-glass doors were manufactured with precise drillings for fittings and equipped with screen printing. The screen print ensures a uniform appearance while concealing the smoke seal at the lower edge of the door, which provides secure floor sealing in the event of a fire. The smoke seal itself was added by the client.

The project demonstrates how functional fire protection requirements and transparent interior architecture can be seamlessly combined.

Cambuur Stadion Leeuwarden

We take a trip to our immediate neighbour: the Netherlands. But there's a lot more to discover in the beautiful neighbouring country than huge fields of tulips and excellent cheese - namely a brand new stadium for SC Cambuur Leeuwarden. With more than 10,000 seats and a glass facade, the new stadium of the Dutch second division club is a real highlight of the municipality. Although construction of the stadium has not yet been finalised, all the glass details are already in place. The large glass surfaces that can already be seen signalise openness and modernity but can also lead to excessive heating in summer. We can easily counteract this with a total of 3,600 m² of thermal and solar control glass. In winter, no valuable heat escapes to the outside and in summer, pleasant temperatures can be easily maintained. Both ensure that energy consumption is ultimately reduced. Our fire-resistant glass was also used on around 600 m². This is essential to prevent the spread of fire in the event of an emergency by creating a completely smoke- and flame-proof room seal. The integration of these glass properties into the stadium architecture creates optimum conditions for fans and players and sets new standards in terms of safety and energy efficiency.

Roche Innovation Center in Basel

This project is all about modernity, innovation and research at the highest level as well as pure aesthetics. The pharmaceutical group Roche is investing a total of over one billion euros to bring together around 1.800 employees from around 60 nations under one roof in the new research and development centre (pRED - Pharma Research and Early Development).

We are more than proud to have been part of something really big through our client, Jegen AG, and to have contributed to such flexible and state-of-the-art workplaces for more collaboration and communication and sustainable medical solutions.

In order to combine the desired aesthetics with all the necessary functions for the workspace, our curved fire-resistant glass, including sound insulation, was integrated into a high-quality oak frame. We carried out intensive fire safety tests in advance for both the curved glass in the frame and the frameless curved glass to ensure absolute protection. In cooperation with Jegen AG, we thus accompanied the entire process from development and production through to the realization and installation of the glass.

A total of around 1.200 m² of fire-resistant glass was installed, including both EI30 and EI60 classifications in mono and insulating glass. This included 426 individual panes and 32 curved panes, covering an area of around 90 m².

Olympiade in Amstelveen

Our most recent project is in Amstelveen in the Netherlands, on the outskirts of Amsterdam. On an area of 40,000 m², we fitted a total of seven residential complexes named after Olympic cities with thermal and solar control glass.

The 14,000 m² park offers a wide range of sports and leisure facilities, and, last but not least, space for a huge underground park with plenty of parking spaces, combining action with modernity and aesthetics.

In order to make the complex as aesthetically pleasing and safe as possible, we supplied our customer Alkondor from Hengelo with a total of 7,775 m² of thermal and solar control glass for the facades of the residential complexes, which found place in aluminium windows and aluminium frames.

The large glass fronts of the modern residential buildings provide sun-drenched retreats with a view of the parks on the outskirts of Amsterdam.

Our Sun Energy double-glazed solar control glass on the south and east façades and the Hero Top S 1.0 heat-insulating glass with 2-fold glazing on the north and west façades provide optimum protection from the sun and a particularly pleasant living experience.
